I started to appreciate it from button mushrooms, portobello, enoki, and shiitake. If you are like me and are skeptical of liking mushrooms then this crispy oyster mushroom recipe is for you.
To whoever first started using oyster mushrooms as chicken replacement thank you, you made being plant-based, vegan, and vegetarian easier for us.
This vegan chicken mushroom is super easy to prepare and cook, all you need is to prepare your batter and add the spices to the mixture adjust the taste according to your preference.
I have a sensitive palate when it comes to salty food and has come to tolerate spicy food after being plant-based. Let me know how your taste bud has become after changing your lifestyle.
What I like in this recipe is the use of turmeric to give spice to the oyster mushrooms as well as give a vibrant color that is so appetizing.

WHAT YOU NEED
Mixing bowl – for the batter mixture or small bowls
Strainer- to keep your fried crispy oyster mushrooms
Frying Pan
Wooden Spatula or Frying utensil
GLUTEN-FREE AND VEGAN
This recipe is made vegan using unsweetened oat milk and for the gluten-free option replace unbleached all-purpose flour, a gluten-free flour of your choice, or a mixture of cornflour and gluten-free flour.
SUBSTITUTIONS
Use any dairy-free unsweetened milk of your choice, but I won’t recommend using water in the batter as it will make the coating thin and it will not stick in the mushrooms.
For this recipe, I tried using both oat milk and soy milk. Use unsweetened soy milk because regular soy milk will have a soy taste after frying.
