As much as I’m excited to use this conventional oven something happened. Geesh! it caused a power trip making the whole house uncomfortable not once but twice. After the first power trip we thought it was just a glitch so we try putting back the power on and tried using again. But then no hope at all I gave up and ended up using the convection oven.

This dairy-free fudgy brownies are so easy to make I really love how it come out so fudgy, delicious with the right sweetness blend. I’m so happy making dairy-free baking whoever said you can’t enjoy sweet treats without using any dairy products prove them wrong. Imagine a sweet treat without using egg and butter.

If you are just starting to bake this treat is so easy, not time-consuming and a crowd-pleaser. Perfect snack at any time of the day. The first time I made brownies a few years back I used the ready-to-cook ones because I’m scared of not having it come out perfect but then there’s nothing really scary or intimidating with baking. You just got to try and explore. I have a few baking recipes wherein the texture didn’t come out the way I wanted it to be but the taste is there and I’m happy. Soon I will post those recipes and give them a new name.

So what makes Brownies fudgy? Not all Brownies are created equal there’s cakey, chewy and fudgy my favorite. Although they may differ in texture all are still good it just depends on someone’s preference. Here‘s my version of cakey Mango brownies and fudgy chocolate brownies.

A cakey brownies recipe can still be moist but having it cakey depends in the ratio of fat to flour recipe. Cakey brownies have more flour content than fat my fat is Canola oil which is considered as healthy oil. I like how soft yet thick cakey brownies is and adding dried mangos on top gives it a chewy flavor. Fudgy brownies is more moist and gooey you can really taste the rich chocolate flavor and in this recipe lesser flour more fat I still use Canola oil and both are dairy-free fudgy brownies.

Dairy-free Fudgy Brownies

  • (250g) 2 cups unbleached all purpose flour
  • (90g) 3/4 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
  • (402g) 2 cups white sugar ( I use granulated)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • (240ml) 1 cup water
  • (120ml) 1/2 canola oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Toppings: Optional I use dried mangos for the cakey recipe and chocolate chips for the fudgy recipe.

  • Sift flour in a bowl. Next sift cocoa powder. Add remaining dry ingredients except for sugar. Mix well.
  • Mix liquid ingredients. Add sugar. I prefer using granulated sugar because I know its purely made of sugar cane. Some white sugar uses char bone which is a by product from animals. Mix well.
  • Pour liquid mixture with dry mixture. Combine together but do not over mix. Just make sure the combination is even.
  • Pre heat oven to 150 deg. Celcius
  • You can pour the batter directly in the baking pan. You can also put first parchment paper before pouring the batter.
  • Bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick is inserted and comes out clean.

Did you know that Chocolate Brownies originated in the USA and was created in1893 at the Palmer’s House Hotel in Chicago loop, something I missed out during my Chicago Marathon.
