Prepare your baking pan. Either grease your baking pan or put a parchment paper having extended on either two sides to easily lift the brownies after baking. For this, I use a 5x7 in glassware.
Prepare a mixture of flax egg ( 1 tbsp flaxseed + 3 tbsp water mix and rest for 5 minutes) Set aside
In a large bowl. Mix dry ingredients whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, coffee granules.
In a medium bowl, pour sugar add vanilla, flax egg, dairy-free milk, and applesauce. Mix until well combined.
Pour the liquid mixture with the dry mixture slowly until everything is well combined. Try no to over mix the batter.
You may add chocolate chips. (optional) You can let the batter set first for about 10 minutes. I did this while preheating the oven.
I sprinkled almonds on top before baking. (optional)
You can sprinkle chocolate chips (optional)
Transfer to your baking pan and bake for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick is inserted and comes out clean or it does not hold to the toothpick.
Rest for about 20 minutes before transferring into a cooling rack. In this case, I do not need to transfer mine.
Serve and enjoy.

If you do not have whole-grain flour, use whole wheat flour with the same measurement while if using all-purpose flour use 1 cup instead of ¾ cups.
For the sugar, white sugar can also be used in this recipe.
Adding coffee granules is optional.
If you do not have applesauce you can still use oil or vegan butter and the measurement is still the same.
If you have a nut allergy simply opt for chocolate chips instead or none. You may also add chocolate frosting if you prefer.
